Det bekræfter en repræsentant for Grand Ole Opry, et band, som Capps var medlem af, over for Rolling Stone.
Capps har blandt andet spillet guitar på Kenny Rogers’ kæmpehit The Gambler og George Straits Amarillo by Morning.
Hyldes af branchen
Som guitarist stod Capps ofte i skyggen af de allerstørste stjerner – det fremgår da også af titlen på hans selvbiografi, der udkom i 2018; The Man in Back.
Ikke desto mindre hyldes Capps nu af countrymiljøet, blandt andet på Twitter.
